Tony Pluckrose, is a Chartered Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney and a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney. He is an active member of the firm’s Trade Mark and Domain Names Group and its Engineering and Designs Group. Tony has been a Partner since 1994.

Trade Mark Practice
Tony is acknowledged by clients and peers alike as a leading UK trade mark attorney. He specialises in giving a full range of Trade Mark advice (both UK and international) to direct corporate clients. He has extensive experience of prosecution work and oppositions at the UK Trade Marks Registry and the EU Trade Mark Registry (EUIPO), including representing clients at UKIPO trade mark opposition hearings and instructing barristers in appeal proceedings at the High Court. Tony also has instructed barristers in appeals from the EUIPO to the General Court in Luxembourg.

He has Trade Mark clients in the fields of publishing, music, the hotel industry, computer games, telecommunications, the pipeline industry and financial services. Having assisted clients in a number of corporate acquisitions, Tony has experience in due diligence exercises. He is also experienced in providing support for major clients in UK High Court litigation as part of a team of advisors alongside solicitors and counsel. He has extensive experience in co-ordinating trade mark litigation for clients throughout Europe, the USA and the Far East.

Tony undertakes significant amounts of work on a pro bono basis for various humanitarian charities.

Patent Practice
Tony specialises in areas of technology which involve a mixture of mechanical and electrical/electronic engineering (i.e. control systems, software inventions, computer control of products and processes). He has handled many applications, oppositions and appeals at the European Patent Office related to aerospace technology. Tony has also assisted start up technology companies from their first patent filings through building a patent portfolio through to an exit by a trade sale. Tony has experience in being part of a team of advisers alongside solicitors and counsel in the litigation of Patents and registered Designs in the UK High Court and the IPEC and in mediation conducted at the WIPO.

During over 20 years of practice Tony has dealt with a diverse range of technologies, from games to medical devices to aerospace and oil industry engineering. He gives commercial advice to British SMEs, helps them to set IPR strategy and to exploit their IPR commercially, e.g. by licensing.
