About

Boult Wade Tennant is one of Europe’s leading Intellectual Property law firms. Founded in 1894 in London, UK, we now have offices across the UK and Europe, including Munich and Frankfurt in Germany and Madrid in Spain. We are proud of our long heritage, our reputation for outstanding quality, and our dedication to client service.

China is a key market for our clients: we work with a range of companies from small to multinational. Partners of the firm regularly visit China to meet with existing and potential clients, to lecture on Intellectual Property, and to accompany UK Government Trade Missions. We understand the expectations of Chinese clients, and our staff are dedicated to offering the highest quality of service whilst meeting the tight deadlines specified. We also understand that obtaining IP rights in Europe can be expensive. We have therefore developed a range of fixed price service arrangements and more for Chinese clients, so that the cost of filing and prosecuting patent and trade mark rights is agreed with you in advance.

Culture

As an IP firm we have identified five core values, which reflect our culture. These values underpin everything we do and help us to deliver our ambition.

  • Delight: We deliver on our promise of providing a quality service to our clients
  • Exceed: We provide patent and trade mark advice of the highest quality
  • Respect: We build integrity, transparency and fairness into every aspect of our work
  • Strive: We continually challenge ourselves to find better ways of working
  • Care: We go out of our way to have a positive impact on society and on the environment

Awards

Throughout the firm’s history, Boult Wade Tennant has been the recipient of a wide range of prestigious, international legal awards. Since 2007, when we first invited legal directories to assess us, we have been awarded Tier One status for both patents and trade marks every single year. This exceptional achievement recognises our expertise, quality standards and service delivery.

Corporate social responsibility

At Boult Wade Tennant we are conscious of the environmental impact and legacy we will leave for future generations as well as our responsibility to the wider community. We have an active Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy that includes initiatives to benefit our local community, charitable organisations and promotes employee participation in such organisations.

Part of our commitment has been to create a group of volunteers from across the firm that is chaired by the Chief Operating Officer, Andrew Little. It is this group’s task to ensure we achieve the objectives we have set ourselves in the corporate responsibility strategy. Moving forward they will monitor our performance, year on year, to ensure that we are fulfilling our promises.

We have set ourselves ambitious environmental targets to help us reduce our carbon footprint and help us support businesses that share our environmental values. We aim to reduce our carbon emission by focusing on power saving technologies and increasing the efficiency of our heating, water and lighting systems. We reuse and recycle wherever we can, an example of which is joining forces with East London Community Recycling Partnership, and now actively collect all food waste so that it can be turned into compost for public parks and hospital gardens.

Our patent attorney and trade mark attorneys, at every level, are committed to offering pro bono work to a wide range of organisations. They volunteer their time and expertise to worthy causes that will benefit from their energy and IP knowledge.
